Born 22nd December, 1970, Rafael Edward Cruz - known as Ted Cruz - is an American politician currently serving as United States Senator of Texas. Educated at Princeton University, Ted Cruz then completed a law degree at the Harvard School of Law. After working as a lawyer on political cases for several years, Cruz joined the 1999 George Bush presidential campaign group as a domestic advisor to the future president. After serving as Solicitor General to Texas, Cruz returned to private law where he oversaw some of the largest personal injury lawsuits in American history. In 2012 he ran for U.S. Senate; Cruz won the election with 56% of the vote. In 2016 Ted Cruz ran for president on the Republican ticket but lost out to Trump.
